His research interests are metabolic engineering and synthetic biology, including synthetic microbial cell factories for the production of natural products and bulk chemicals; value-added processing of C1 coumpounds; and enabling technologies development, including high-throughput screening technologis (small molecular biosensors, ultra-highthroughput droplet screening), genome evolution technologies (adaptative evolution based on synthectic circuits, in vivo continuous evolution, high-throughput functional genomics), innovative instruments development (microfluidic chips for the construction of microbial cell factories)
